Snr Ladies win again

Snr Ladies win again

Our senior ladies recorded their 5th win of the League, beating Cill Chomain on a scoreline of 5.19 to 2.08.

The game was played at 7 pm in Kiltimagh, and despite the scoreline, it was an entertaining contest.

Kiltimagh had the majority of the play in the 1st half and led at halftime by 4.12 to 0.04.

In the second half, both teams upped their scoring, each totaling 10 points.

A pleasing factor of the win was that a strong team was fielded despite 13 players missing from the panel due to work and other commitments. Also, several U18’s made their debuts.

Well done to all, five wins out of six, and now it’s onto their last game v Kilmaine on the 17th of May in Kilmaine @ 11 am.

U18 Boys win V Ardnaree

U18 Boys win V Ardnaree

On Tuesday last, our minor boys had a good away win over Ardnaree on a scoreline of 2.18 to 4.08.

After a slow start, Kiltimagh found themselves trailing 1.01 to no score. They settled in as they slowly reached game speed and rattled off 1.08 without
reply, with Sean McDonnell hitting 1.02 from play. This was backed up by points from Luke Cummins, Daniel McNicholas, Con McDermott, and 3 from Conor Hession, leaving the half-time score Kiltimagh 1.09 Ardnaree 1.03.

The second half was end-to-end, with points being tagged on by both teams. Then Cuan Gill found the back of the net to put daylight between the teams, but from the resulting kick out, Ardnaree went straight down the field and hit right back with a goal. Moments later, at the other end of the field, Jack
Shannon kicked a huge 2-pointer, followed swiftly by a point from Tom Smith and another from Shannon.

Ardnaree were not done yet and kicked 1.02 without reply to draw the game level with eight minutes remaining. That was to be their last score as Kiltimagh finished the stronger with points from Donagh Bigley, Conor Hession, and a magnificent 2-pointer by Con McDermott.

Cameron Farrington in goals, and the defence, led by Eoghan McGovern, Rian Freeman, Conor Gilmartin, Johna Gill, Donnacha Kelly, and Donagh Bigley, worked tirelessly throughout. At midfield, Tom Smith and Conor Hession dominated, and up front, Sean McDonnell, Jack Shannon, and Con McDermott were constant threats. Substitutes Cian Carroll, Noah Byrne, and Harry Ward had a big impact in the latter stages of the game.

Juniors win C.ship 1st round

Kiltimagh got their Premier Junior C Championship campaign up and running convincingly on Friday evening, accounting for Islandeady B on a 5-18 to 1-03 scoreline.

Showers drifted in and out over the course of the opening half and, in truth, the football followed suit. At times it was sharp and purposeful, at others loose and lacking cohesion. Still, Kiltimagh did enough to take control, with ten scores from play highlighting their greater attacking threat.

Seán Gilmartin set the tone early, continuing his recent good form. Leading the line with intent, he finished the half with an impressive 1-4 from full-forward as Kiltimagh eased into a 1-08 to 1-02 lead by the break without ever fully hitting top gear.

The second half told a different story.

With the showers gone, Kiltimagh found clarity in their play. Their movement improved, their use of the ball sharpened, and as Islandeady began to tire, the gaps opened. The McDonnell brothers took control around the middle, with Paddy a constant, driving force, kicking four points from play.

At the back, Kiltimagh tightened up considerably. The full-back line took control, with Marcus Cosgrave at corner-back in the standout performer in an impressive defensive display that restricted Islandeady to just a single point after the restart. Mikie Flatley was also influential and was unlucky not to add a third to his first-half return of two fine points from play.

Up front, the game was ruthlessly put beyond doubt. Four late goals underlined Kiltimagh’s dominance, with Daniel Farnhill, Robbie Irwin and Gary Regan all finding the net, before Stephen McDonnell rounded things off with a looping finish.

With Ardagh and Tourmakeady ahead, sterner tests await, but this was a case of job well done and a solid platform to build on as the summer unfolds.

The game was played at 10.30 am in Claremorris and was an entertaining contest, played in good spirits by both teams.

In the second half, it was a different story as we scored a further 3.06 to no reply from Claremorris. A pleasing factor of the win was that several U18s made their debuts.
