Our U14 Girls had a big win away to Westport on Friday night on a scoreline of Kiltimagh 9:20
Westport 2:01
The under-12s wrapped up a great week of challenges before the league starts next week with a cracking game between the boys and Swinford in Kiltimagh, coming up just short on a score line of 2-11 to 14 points in a game that went down to the final kick of the game.
This game follows their impressive win in Charlestown last Saturday morning on a scoreline of 7-04 to 1-01.
The boys now look forward to their league starting next Wednesday evening in Balla.
Kiltimagh senior ladies recorded their 3nd win of the League, beating Westport on a scoreline of 1.08 to 1.02.
Despite the windy conditions, it was an entertaining game played in good spirits. Kiltimagh played with the wind in the 1st half, and led at half-time by 3 points, on a scoreline of 1.04 to 1.01.
In the 2nd half, playing against a very strong breeze, they played some brilliant attacking football, backed up by excellent defending.
A pleasing factor of the win was that 30 players were togged and some of the younger players made their debits.
Well done to all, three wins out of three, and they now have a two-week break until their next game away to Belmullet.
Kiltimagh U16 Boys recorded a win away to Belmullet on a scoreline of 5.10 to 3.07.
Kiltimagh played with a strong wind in the first half and got off to a great start, scoring 2-1 in the first few minutes. They lost their way, and Belmullet came more into the game as Kiltimagh kicked several wides. Kiltimagh steadied up and went in at halftime 3-8 to 1-3 ahead.
They got off to a great start to the second half with an early goal, and even though Belmullet tried very hard to close the gap, Kiltimagh held on to win by 8 points.
A great team performance in very difficult conditions.
Congratulations to Conor Heneghan, who was named Vice Captain of the Mayo Masters last night. He’ll be joined on the panel for the year ahead by fellow Kiltimagh men Tommy Elliott and Alan Murtagh. Best of luck lads
A big strong Naomh Padraig team made the most of the very windy conditions to lead at halftime by 2-7 to 0-4, a total that included 2 two-pointers. Kiltimagh tried very hard to get back into the game, but their physically stronger opponents defended well to run out winners at the end.
Kiltimagh senior ladies recorded their 2nd win of the League beating Kilmeena on a scoreline of 4.07 to 3.07.
It was a very fast and entertaining game with both teams playing attacking football, and it was anyone’s game at the end as both teams had numerous chances but failed to convert.
Kiltimagh ended the 1st half down by 1 point but finished up winners by a margin of 1 goal. A pleasing factor of the win was that 31 players were togged, with a number unavailable due to work commitments.
Well done to all, and roll on next Sunday’s (29th) home game against Westport in Gilmartin Park @ 11am.
It’s a big weekend for Sadhbh Mooney as she and the Mayo U18 Ladies team take on Leitrim in the Connacht Championship, Saturday, the 21st @ 3.00 pm in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Sadhbh is a member of the Kiltimagh G.A.A. Ladies senior team, and it is her 2nd year wearing the red and green of Mayo.
Everyone in Kiltimagh G.A.A. wishes Sadhbh and the Mayo team the very best in their quest for silverware this year.
In today’s East Mayo Centenary Cup League 2 game v Ballyhaunis, an understrength Kiltimagh team lost out to Ballyhaunis on a scoreline of 2.14 to 2.07.
Conditions were not the best, with strong winds, rain, sleet, and hailstones at times, during the game.
Kiltimagh had the breeze behind them in the 1st half and led by 2.06 to 0.06. In the second half, it was Ballyhaunis’s turn to have the breeze, and they scored 2.08 to our 1 point.
A great win for our U18 girls v Shrule Glencorrib on a scoreline of 3.12 to 4.04. It was a brilliant display by all the players, given the atrocious conditions on the night, with strong winds, rain, and sleet for most of the game.
