Bord na nOg AGM 2013
Jan 14, 2013, 11:01 pm

This year’s Bord na nOg AGM will take place at the Club’s meeting room on Friday the 25th January 2013 at 8pm. Coaches and management teams for the coming year will be appointed to the various age groups both boys and ladies. The fortunes of the ladies’ club have been waning over the last couple of years and we need to make a big effort this year to get things moving again right up to minor level. A number of ladies have expressed an interest in getting involved in coaching this year and anyone interested is more than welcome to attend the AGM.

AGM 2012
Jan 2, 2013, 10:50 pm

The 2012 AGM of Kiltimagh GAA Club took place at the Meeting Room at Kiltimagh GAA pitch on Sunday the 16th December last. The meeting was very well attended and Brendan Mooney, Club Chairman summarised the achievements of the closing year. The senior team disappointed in the championship and showed in their later performances in the league that they are capable of better. They narrowly lost out on promotion, losing by a point to Claremorris in the top of the table clash. However, events off the field greatly impacted the Club during 2012. Senior team manager Eugene Ivers, in his report to the meeting, noted that the players were greatly affected by the deaths of their friends and family members during the year and commended all the players for their spirit and resillience in continuing to perform in those very difficult circumstances. Eugene Ivers announced that he would be stepping down after 2 years at the helm and said that it was a great privilege to work with such a smashing bunch of players. The Club thanked Eugene for the great time and effort that he put into the team over the last 2 years. It wasn’t for lack of preparation and effort and Eugene and his back-up team of Padraic Shannon and Adrian Carroll have shown great dedication and commitment to the Club. The U21 team did well at the group stage but lost to Claremorris in somewhat controversial circumstances at the quarter-final stage. At underage level victories for the U14 boys in the County Championship and the minor boys in the league were recalled and both management teams were congratulated. The ladies did not have a successful year by their usual standards and it was discussed that the Club needed more women to become involved at administration level and as coaches in the Club in order to continue to drive the ladies football in the club. The club hope to get more women involved and deal again with the matter at the upcoming Bord na nOg AGM. Officers elected for the coming year were: Christy Feerick, President; Brendan Mooney, Chairman; Shane Gilmartin vice-Chairman; Gerry King, Secretary; Ann Moran, Asst-Secretary; Seamus Corry, Treasurer; Grainne Mulhern, Asst Treasurer; Tod O’ Mahony, PRO; Shane Gilmartin, Chairman Bord na nOg/Coaching Officer, Paul Lydon, Palyers’ Representative.

Race Night is on 29th December 2012
Dec 12, 2012, 10:51 pm

The GAA Club’s annual Race Night will take place this year in Teach O’ Hora, Kiltimagh on Saturday the 29th December 2012. Horses are available from the usual sources and this year the price is still €20.00 per horse or 3 horses for €50.00. The first race is off at 9.30pm and another enjoyable night should be on the cards. Cookie the bookie will be paying as generously as ever. Get in early and catch him unprepared. This is a vital fundraising night for the Club so all support will be greatly appreciated. The cost of running the club is approximately €1000.00 per week so, because of the recession, it is becoming more and more difficult to raise funds to finance the running of the Club. Events like this are essential lifeblood for the Club. However, after another tough budget this is a night to let the hair down and have a bit of craic and we’ll face into the challenges of 2013 in due course.
